It’s not uncommon to pair diamonds with sapphires, but every once in a while they are combined in a new, statement-making way that makes you sit up a little straighter and take notice. This was the case with this fabulous diamond, sapphire, and white gold statement pendant we created for one of our clients.
Our very forward-thinking client came to us with a very clear vision. He wanted to make a pendant for his lady love. He wanted to use sapphires, diamonds, and white gold. And, he wanted the pendant to subtly reflect an M and a W, the initials of his love and himself. He even brought in illustrations of what he wanted, depicting the bold white gold lines you see in the finished product below and the stonework that bridged the metal together.
Leaving his vision in the hands of our jeweler extraordinaire, Lee took the illustration, rendered it, and worked his magic at the bench to make it a reality. The finished product is bold, clean, and significant. It depicts the love of two people by smartly joining their initials, and it is sure to make a big impact on anyone who has the pleasure of catching a glimpse of it on it’s wearer.
It is gratifying when things work out. It all fell into place concerning this Heart Shape Pink Sapphire and Diamond Ring. The owner was in love with the style of ring. However, the husband to be could only find it in silver, set with cubic zirconias. There is a reason for that. Usually, when gem cutters get their hands on a pink sapphire of this size, they cut it into more popular shapes. Luckily, the husband brought the project to us. We removed the stones from the silver ring, made a mold of it, and then cast it in white gold. Both the mold, and the casting came out just a bit smaller than the original ring. It took a great deal of searching, but we were then able to find a pink, heart-shaped sapphire to fit the slightly smaller copy of the original ring. We then surrounded the sapphire with diamonds; creating what is undoubtedly another very unique engagement ring.
Sometimes, you have to just let a piece speak for itself.
Concentrating on being Custom jewelers allows us to hone our skills with an incredible amount of special request. We have a great deal of appreciation for the ideals of conservation, up-cycling and, classic craftsmanship. This ring is a good example of that. Using family diamonds and the lucky lady’s love of vintage looking jewelry, we were able to craft this contemporary, but classically styled engagement ring. It was computer designed, hand engraved, and hand set with heirloom diamonds and sapphires. It was cast in 14kt white gold and as you can imagine she said, Yes!
Working with artists is always a pleasure. They always have a clear vision of what they want, but also understand and encourage that a craftperson adds their own value to a design. This 14k white gold, pass by ring was Custom designed to fit an absolutely gorgeous 1.3 ct round blue sapphire. It incorporates a design feature, that we at Custom are going to start adding to a collection of rings soon. The ring get wider, but flatter as it passes between the fingers. It makes the ring very comfortable to wear, and does not change the visible part of the ring.
One of our favorite types of jobs is when a customer brings in their own gems to have a piece of Custom jewelry created, as is the case with this Hand Fabricated Tsoavorite Garnet and Sapphire Ring. We used the customer’s gold, and a photograph to guide us on this hand fabrication job. With the gems being such fine specimens, it was imperative to showcase them, and not attract too much attention away with the mounting itself. Very light and airy bezels accomplish that goal. Have a look at one of our newest pieces, a Hand Fabricated Tsoavorite Garnet and Sapphire Ring.
