A Giveaway Celebration – Peridot and Amethyst Custom Necklace

So, about three months ago, we at Custom discovered that not only do we make the most gorgeous jewelry, we make the most gorgeous babies too!

Announcing Jasper Pearl, the newest addition to the Custom Family.

Pretty Gorgeous, Right?

In the category of gorgeous jewelry (but not as gorgeous as Jasper)  we have a Custom made, Peridot and Amethyst necklace. This one-of-a-kind pendant is completely hand fabricated from sterling silver, and set with genuine stones.

Jasper likes it:

So, in honor of Miss Jasper’s arrival, we would like to have a little Giveaway Contest, for this stunning necklace!

That’s right, Jasper! We are giving it away to one of our lucky Custom fans!

Here’s how:

Next, share us to enter the giveaway! On Facebook share our page, or link to one of our pieces you particularly love, on your wall. Lodolite and Sterling Silver pendant

We recently acquired some new stones, and out of one of them we created this Lodolite and Sterling Silver pendant. Lodolite  is the name given to a type of included quartz from Minas Gerais,  Brazil. Lodolite inclusions often have colors that range from red, green, white, brown, pink, and yellow.  These inclusions often result in scenes inside the clear quartz that resemble coral reefs, moss, or other worldly landscapes. This particular stone is so beautiful on its own, we decided to make its setting as simple as possible. Just a thin, highly polished bezel encompasses the outside edge of the stone and almost disappears into the stone itself. Just one more example of the Custom Jewelry we add to our cases on a regular basis. Come see the 56ct Lodolite and Sterling Silver pendant for yourself at our jewelry store in NoDa.

Sterling Silver Jade Dragon Pendant

This pendant was a commissioned piece. The goal was to create a piece of custom jewelry that perfectly fit a carved jade medallion that holds sentimental value for the customer.  A number of techniques were used in order to achieve this. From milling a wax, casting, hand fabrication, and hand engraving. Because of all the soldering that needed to be done in order to make the tabs that held the stone in place, we felt it necessary to cast the main bezel plate instead of fabricating it from sheet metal. The bail in which the pendant hangs was styled to mimic the shape of the tabs holding in the jade medallion. The jade was then set in place before the back of the pendant was hand engraved. Setting the jade before engraving added to the rigidity of the pendant so that large amount of elaborate engraving could be done without bending the plate. We think the end result speaks for itself.

Amber and Fold Formed Sliver Medallion Necklace

This is a commissioned piece created using a strand of amber the customer already owned. Double strands of amber are accented by sterling silver fold formed disks. The disks were fabricated for this piece, using the fold forming process, here at Custom. Fold forming is equivalent to Origami, with metal. The technique was developed by Charles Lewton Brain, around 1985. It is the only truly new form of metalsmithing created in centuries. So take a look at your old, unused, and dormant jewelry and imagine what new possibilities await you at Custom.

Reticulated Silver, Titanium Sphene Pendant and Earring Set

Yet another Custom jewelry piece finished in the store today. There was a slight lull in jewelry repairs today, so we took the time to continue filling the cases with new work. These unusual titanium sphene stones are just one example of the new stone stock we have in the store. Come pick yours before they are all gone.

Sterling Silver and Maw SitSit pendant

One of the new Custom jewelry pieces just finished today. In between jewelry repairs we are spending our time putting together precious metals and some of the new precious and semi-precious stones that arrived in the last week. There are plenty more stones to look at in the Custom store, so come and see.
