Sometimes hand engraving really makes a ring, and other times it is a finishing detail that turns up the crucial “WOW” factor on a ring. This beautiful hand engraved, white gold, 3-stone ring falls into that latter category. The proud owner of this pink tourmaline and amethyst ring first saw this design on our website, and thought it would be the perfect gift for his wife. The original ring is a tension-set three stone engagement ring, and even without the engraving, it was a very cool design.
In order to customize it — and ensure his wife was receiving a one-of-a-kind Custom gift — he decided to have it set with a beautiful purple amethyst and two vibrant pink tourmaline stones. In order to customize it further, we also let our engraver know that it was a present for his wife, and he designed some wonderful finishing details for the tension mounting.
If you take a close look at the “after” shots, you’ll see tiny flowers underneath the main amethyst, as well as a leaf-like design finishing out the band. In the end this ring truly came out with a WOW factor, and we hope it’s wearer will cherish it always as the unique gift it is.
Part of what I love about working at Custom Jewelry is getting to merge the past with the present. In a custom jewelry and repair shop, this can happen in many different ways. Sometimes a client will bring in an old worn out ring and want to restore it to it’s former glory. Other times, a person will bring in old earrings that have sentimental value, but they never wear. So we make them into cuff links or rings or another accessory they love. And then there are times like this ring, where we create a completely new piece of jewelry, but get to tie it into the past.
Our client needed a wedding band. He didn’t want a traditional, plain men’s wedding band though. He figured that if he was going to wear a ring for the rest of his life, he wanted it to remind him about where he was from. So, he came to us with the concept of incorporating his family’s coat of arms into the band. He brought us pictures of family crests and the coat of arms that had been passed down to him, and Lee started to work his magic. He designed a simple band that would fit a truncated version of the arms. Once created, the ring and the picture of the arms were handed over to our wonderful engraver, and he started to weave his magic. When the ring came back it got a coat of rhodium plating, was shined up, and then presented to it’s owner. The white gold and lions rampart really give it an antique feel, and bring a little bit of one family’s history to the present for it’s next generation.
So how do you stay connected to the past in your family? Do you have a special family heirloom that has been passed down over the generations? Let us know in the comments.
Custom jewelry, especially, can hold a great deal of meaning to its owner. In the case of this Hand Engraved Two Tone Flower Engagement Ring each stone: emerald, amethyst, alexandrite, topaz, and diamond holds great meaning to the owner. It is a great privilege for us to be part of such an important piece of someone’s life. It is these personal connections that make what we do so rewarding. Thank you!
It pleases us to know that customers are finding our website, even outside the country. As is the case with this Black Diamond Two Tone 14kt Gold Engagement Ring. This Custom engraved ring’s design came about entirely over email. A little black stamp ink and a scanner were all that were needed to make a very personal touch. This detail, seen carved into the shank of the ring, in the form of a fingerprint, is what we at Custom love to do. The single black diamond adorning the yellow gold head in the ring, is a testament to the fact that you don’t need a lot of accent stones to make a big statement.
Have you ever seen a Green and Rose Gold Opal Spinner Pendant? I hope not. Custom jewelry, by its nature, is unique. It is a way to set your style apart from every one else. The pendant is crafted from green and rose gold, hand engraved, and set with a large Australian opal. The opal is set within a bezel that is open on both sides, so that it can be worn with either side facing out. The inner setting also spins inside its border so that the pendant has different orientation possibilities. It hangs from a 16 inch, 5mm silver cable chain. What do you think?
Whether you are a man or woman, your wedding band should hold some meaning. It is refreshing when our male customers put the kind of time into thinking of an idea, as it will take us to realize it. Everything about this ring is deliberate. The proportions, its weight, its contrast, and every swirl of the engraving. A great deal of effort went into getting everything exactly right. You get out what you put in, and this wedding band exemplifies Custom jewelry.
